Scottish Winter Season

A great winter season this year for both weather and conditions. And as I write the season certainly isn't over yet. This year I have run a range of winter climbing courses for beginners and seasoned veterans alike through Sea 2 Summit plus freelance work for Jagged Globe. With some perfect freeze thaw cycles early on in the season, and a few days of strong wind, the weather settled to give week after week of dry conditions and cold temperatures. All the snow was bullet hard with plenty of ice to play with. Memorable routes include climbing the minus trilogy - Minus One (VI,6), Minus Two (V,5) and Minus Three (IV,5), climbing Royal Pardon (VI,5) on Aonach Beag, Red Guard (VI,6) Carn Etchachan, Directissima on Orion Face.
